My makeup Routine

Hey Everyone,
Thank you so much for the awesome response for the Special 5 series. Many of you have messaged and asked me about my makeup routine, so here I am! My makeup routine is similar to my makeup style, Minimal, Natural yet Glamorous! I usually tend to lean more towards a natural No Makeup look but love to highlight one feature on my face and usually, it is the eyes! That makes me feel confident.
- I start by using a moisturiser (Charlotte Tilbury’s Light Magic cream)
- I apply a primer on top. Usually, it is a pore minimiser because I have open pores but sometimes in winters I choose L’Or from Guerlain to give my skin a hydrated and fresh look.
-
Fortunately I do not have dark circles around the eyes so a concealer was never really a part of my makeup kit. I apply a natural dewy foundation.
I am a foundation junkie so have a couple of them to choose from. Velvet Matte from Givenchy, Bobbi Brown foundation stick, Guerlain L’Essentiel Fluid, Smashbox Studio Skin 24 hour foundation and Charlote Tilbury’s Light Wonder foundation. YES ! Guilty as Charged ! - I then apply a small amount of loose or baking powder right under my eyes and start my eye makeup.
- When it comes to my eye makeup. Less is more. I usually like to use not more than 2 shades of shadow on my eyes. My current favourite is Exagger Eyes palette from CT and the Medium Nude Palette from Huda Beauty. I apply a medium shade on the entire eyelid to give it depth and a slightly darker shade to shape the eyes above and below the lash line. If i am in the mood to spend more than 10 minutes in doing my makeup, i use a gel eye liner, on most days the darker eyeshadow works for me!
- Mascara is a must so I do not skip that.
- I then add some definition and powder to my eyebrows and it is at this point my daughter tells me that “Mumma why are you looking weird ?!!” well… i tell her to wait for a few minutes and then judge my skills.
- After my eye makeup I define my lips with a liner followed by lipstick. I prefer using a light berry kind of shade like Captive from Mac or MI Girl from CT.
- I make sure I add a light blusher on my face because my face is usually flushed and red and if I don't add the blusher, it makes me look pale. Since that is not my normal self, I prefer to add a tinge of blusher. I have observed that as we age, a blusher slowly creeps into our makeup kits as a necessity and now I can't do without it. Sometimes when I am not carrying a blusher during my travels, I simply add a little lipstick to my cheeks, Ha Ha !
